This week at TPS we are pleased to welcome Brad Jones to the team as he takes over as the new director of Maintenance, Grounds, and Transportation. Brad comes to us from NSU, where most recently he has been serving as an Electrical Supervisor/Auxiliary Facilities Manager. He will take over for previous Director Cody Thompson, who has recently relocated to the Oklahoma City area.
Brad is a 1996 graduate of Tahlequah High School. He attended NSU where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Technology with emphasis in manufacturing. He comes to TPS with a wealth of experience in electrical design and installation, in the supervision of maintenance on housing, and in training and implementing safety procedures.
Brad is married to Vallerie Jones, a Tahlequah High School history teacher and Social Studies Coordinator. They have two children: daughter Macy, a THS senior and concurrent student at NSU and daughter Ava who attends third grade at Greenwood Elementary.
Brad will hit the ground running this week with many Maintenance and Grounds Department projects where he will oversee twelve full-time employees and also will inherit a busy Transportation Department overseeing thirty full-time employees which include twenty-four route drivers.
Brad’s new TPS job has many similarities to his previous job which include managing projects, administering work orders and ensuring that there is an environment conducive to the academic achievement of our students. He was a highly productive leader at NSU and is ready to accept the challenge of coming back to his roots and making a positive impact for Tahlequah Public Schools.
