Fight to the Finish

Wrestlers go head to head

Some use baskets, some use goals. When it came to Wrestling, all one needed was the human body and the right mindset. Wrestlers headed to the mat knowing they needed to control their opponents to win.

“When I’m about to wrestle, I just go with the flow because I never really know what to expect,” said Parker Weavel, 11.

Weight is a crucial part of Wrestling. The team pushes to either gain it or cut in order to compete in the next match.

“It’s not the cutting weight that’s difficult. It’s the mentality and having the discipline to say no to food,” said Paul Sargent, 12.

Wrestling was hard work and dedication, which was the most important part of success. Constant hours in practice, and weeks of healthy eating got the Wrestlers focused on technique and motivated to win.

Coach James Rappe led the team to its many victories, ranking them tenth in the state. He pushed the boys and made sure they worked their hardest but also was able to have fun as a team.

“To have fun the team plays games together, hangs out and they have ‘Madden Tournaments.’ They do normal teenage stuff. They’re just a bit closer,” said Rappe.
