Spring Athletics

Tahlequah Athletics Spring sports just finished a very busy season. The THS Girls’ soccer team hosted playoffs for the first time in school history. The team ended up losing in a controversial decision because of inclement weather. They lost 1-0 to Metro Christian with 22 minutes remaining in the game. The boys program and girls program had one All-Stater each.

Both Baseball and Slow-pitch seasons ended in regional competition. The Slow-pitch team lost in the finals to the eventual state champion, Broken Arrow. Baseball finished third in the regional and looks to improve under first year head coach Lance Jeanes.

Tahlequah Track qualified 30 different athletes into the 5A state meet held in Yukon on May 15-16. Tahlequah had a great showing and placed several different athletes on the podium.

Tahlequah HS Tennis program had several great days at the State Tennis tournament. On the boys’ side, #1-doubles finished 6th and the #2-doubles finished 8th.  On the girls’ side, #1-doubles finished 5th.

The girls’ Golf program qualified one golfer as individual and the boys’ Golf team defended their state championship with a runner-up finish this year.

This school year Tahlequah High School hosted 3 different OSSAA Regional events and several programs played in post season competition. It has been a great year overall for athletics at Tahlequah Public Schools.

As we move forward, we are very excited about hiring a new athletic trainer that will provide coverage at all home events and select away events. This will be very beneficial to all the student athletes that represent Tahlequah Public Schools.  Next year, we are proud to introduce GameviewTV. This will allow all our parents, fans, and patrons to watch most athletic events from their home computers free of charge.    The Tahlequah Athletic Department will also be looking for more corporate sponsors in the upcoming months.

As the school year wraps up, this year’s accomplishments include the Hall of Fame Banquet in February, first ever corporate sponsorship with First State Bank, a student athletic advisory committee, 7 all-state selections, approval for an athletic trainer, and hosting the ORES regional track meet.

It has been a very busy but successful year for Tahlequah Athletics. As we go into the summer, several of the teams will be busy preparing for the 2015-2016 school year.    Please plan to join us this Fall as we start Volleyball, Softball, and Football in early August.
