Awards and Summer Options

Closing out the 2014-2015 school year to begin summer break is the perfect time to reflect on some of the great accomplishments at Tahlequah High School.  THS students have received over 109 individual scholarships. There are 4 Gates Millennium Scholars this year and they are Lindsey Chaffin, Xavier Scraper, Joseph Tucker, and Wrighter Weavel.   Cassie Goodnight and Amy Hembree have been named as National Merit Scholarship finalists.

Total scholarships are as follows:

Tahlequah High School students and one very special teacher were also honored by the Trustees of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence on May 16th in Tulsa. The 2015 Medal for Excellence Award Winner for Secondary Teaching was awarded to Mr. Jason Proctor who is also Oklahoma’s 2015 State Teacher of the Year.  Tahlequah High School Seniors Adrianna Elliott, Cassie Goodnight, and Tristan LaCombe were all honored as 2015 Oklahoma All-Staters as well during this special evening.  Our community was represented very well by these awesome students and inspiring teacher and we all should be very proud of all our students and staff at Tahlequah Public Schools!

Beginning Monday, June 1st TPS will be kicking off its academic summer school programs. Greenwood Elementary will serve students in grades K-3, Middle School grades 6-8, and High School will have Credit Recovery, EOI testing, and Drivers Education. Summer school is from June 1st until June 26th  7:30am-12:30pm with free lunch served from 12:00-12:30 at Greenwood Elementary Cafeteria. The Summer Food Program is being offered to all students in the community 18 years old and under for free and is also held at Greenwood Elementary Cafeteria.

The 2nd Annual Arts Camp is June 1st-12th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. daily at Tahlequah Middle School. The production this year is “The Lion King!”  It is available for students entering the 3rd through the 8th grade in the fall.  Cost is $60 for the first student with family discounts available. Enrollment for Summer Arts Camp is at the Board of Education office located at 225 N. Water Street.
