TPS S.T.A.R. Students attend Chicago Tap

TAHLEQUAH, OK - S.T.A.R. students from Tahlequah Public Schools wiggled, shuffled and stomped for an hour and were encouraged to do so on Thursday, September  24 when they attended “Chicago Tap Theatre: Tap Out Loud,” the kickoff event for the 2015 Sequoyah Institute season. The hour-long performance introduced students to tap dance and is part of an ongoing education through the arts initiative that the TPS S.T.A.R. program strives for. 

Students Talented in the Arts Realm music and dance students from Cherokee, Greenwood, Heritage and Tahlequah Middle School were treated to a celebration of tap dance and live music from the 1920s until now during the show. During the last few minutes of the show, several students as well as teachers were invited to the stage to learn and perform a 1920s tap piece. 

Attending from Tahlequah Middle School were Marisol Avalos, Erin Bennett, Lyric Brown, Jaya Cochran, Jacie Duncan, Chelsea Edwards, Lyndsie Elliott, Emma Enlow, Emma Hatfield, Emily Hutchins, Asia Lamberson, Emma Lindstrom, Jackson Lovell, Nathan Lowrey, Jordy Marquez, Lydia McAlvain, Murron McInnes, Dylan Moore, Ke’Leigh Penn, Brooke Postlewait, Emily Roberts, Jaxon Stickels, McKinley Thompson, Kyron Tobey, Ashley Trapp, Elizabeth Whitmire. Stella Aldridge, Kelis Atkinson,Ricky Bolt, Emily Cantero, Arlethe Cantu, Demi Casey, Jewels Chuculate, and Gracie Davenport.

Also attending were Jadyn Dawson, Kristina Fanning, Chloe Felts, Anna Fields, Rachel Gibbs, Jessica Graves, Heather Hendrickson, Jacie Johnson, Andrew McCartney, Isaac Monks, Skyla Peterman, Jessie Pierce, Natalee Porter, Macye Spencer, Aubrey Sumner, Roz Timothy, Maureena Troutman, Mason Wood, Emma Akin, Macy Baker, Rylee Brown, Blake Corn, Lindsey Freymuth, Lily Hannah, Kylie Hix, Cara King, Hannah Langston, Baylee Lynn, Autumn McKinney, Sydni Moore, Alexus Morris, Holly Otterstrom, Maggie Reasor, Katie Retherford, Logan Ross, Olivia Smith, Cassidy Spears, Jenna Stacy, Izabella Stovall, Meg Thompson, and Harmony Wardlow.
