Fall Athletics

Tahlequah Athletics Fall sports has had a great start to the 2015-2016 school year. The softball team finished the year as Regional runner-up with 25-16 record for the young team. Kortney Dry was voted first team All-Region for 5A-6A.   All-State Softball honors were awarded to Kortney Dry and Lindsay Wade.

The THS Cheer team finished runner-up in the east regional and 4th in state competition.  Alli George had the top score on the east side of the state in All Region competition.

The Lady Tigers Volleyball team finished regional runner-up with a 21-16 record.  Amanda Milnick received All-State honors for volleyball.

The Football team is having one of the most celebrated seasons in 14 years.  With a current 8-1 record, the Tigers will play for the district title in Coweta on Nov. 6.

The Boys Cross Country team finished last weekend as regional runner up at O’Brien Park in Tulsa and were the State runners up in the 5A boys cross country title on October 31. The Girls Cross Country team also qualified for the state meet held on the campus of Edmond Santa Fe the same day.  Joshua Dick and Gracie Medellin received All-State honors for Cross Country.

As we move forward, we are very excited about the hiring of athletic trainer, Bryce Rudek. His knowledge will allow medical treatment for all of our athletes. This is a very beneficial to the student athletes that represent Tahlequah Public Schools.

This Fall we introduced www.tahlequahtigers.tv. This allows all our parents, fans, and patrons to watch most of athletic events from their home computers free of charge. This is a student-led broadcast that the kids have taken great pride in thus far.

It has been a very busy but successful year for Tahlequah Athletics. As we go into the winter, basketball and wrestling are preparing for their respective seasons.

The Athletic Department is preparing for the 2nd Annual Tahlequah Athletics Hall of Fame banquet, which will take place January 30th on the high school campus. Last year’s event drew more than 250 guests to this event. Nominations are due December 1. Tahlequah Athletics will also be looking for more corporate sponsors in the upcoming months.  Please plan to attend an event in the near future. Go Tigers!
