9 5 9: The Play to Win All Games

The football team shows what they were made of

“Nine players within five yards of the ball ninety percent of the time.” This was the saying for the football team that they lived and breathed by.

“I joined Football to be a part of the game I love to play. It’s a thrill on Friday night to be under the lights and just the adrenaline to be a part of a family and the love of the game,” Tyler Littlejohn, 12, said.

Being ranked number three in the state was one of the biggest accomplishments for the team along with making it to the play-offs with a record of 8-2. The boys put in a lot of hard work to get where they were.

“Starting out, I never really got much playing time, but I worked hard and got a starting spot as a defensive tackle,” Dante McDowell, 12, said.

Players not only had grown up playing the sport, the sport has made them grow as individuals as well.

“The feeling before the games on Friday night, all the emotions running through my head, the excitement, being nervous and how proud I am of my team, are the things that keep me insprired throughout the year,” Seth Campbell, 12, said.

All the excitement, the crowd cheering and the Pom and Cheer being behind the boys 24/7, pushed the boys to get where they got, and that was play-offs. From being in the turf room every morning of the summer to staying on the fields for practice until 6 on school nights, the boys worked and played their hearts out.

“The fact that we didn’t take things too incredibly serious and just had fun was what made the season so great for me,” Cedrick Rippetoe, 12, said.

All in all the boys worked hard, had fun and made and a lot of memories.
