Dear Tahlequah Public Schools Students, Parents, and Stakeholders:
Please accept this enthusiastic welcome back to school for all of those who play such an important role in the educational process of our 3600 students in Tahlequah Public Schools! I am excited about the first day of school on Thursday, August 11 and the potential of the 2016-2017 school year. The opportunities the upcoming school year brings for our students, staff and the community are boundless!
Tahlequah is a beautiful community with productive partnerships that are developing our town into the place to call home and Tahlequah Public Schools the school district to attend. Our partnerships with the Cherokee Nation, City of Tahlequah and Northeastern State University provide quality early childhood education, security measures such as School Resource Officers, a B&G Club After School Program, student interns and Robotics training. Tahlequah has a history of valuing education which is reflected in its local school district.
Tahlequah Public Schools will operate and look differently this school year due to the fiscal uncertainty in state funding. Our Tigers ROAR vision is however unwavering and our commitment to prepare our students to assume the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in a democracy remains steadfast. We will continue the development of our students beyond the basic skills by creating enriching learning environments for students.
Each of us can support our students in their educational efforts. One method of being involved with the district is with the Tahlequah Public Schools Foundation. The TPS Foundation is made up of parents and community volunteers dedicated to advancing Tahlequah Public Schools. The Foundation donated over $30,000 to classroom teachers in 2015-2016! Visit their website at www.tahlequahpublicschoolsfoundation.org. Another method of support is to join your school’s PTO. Stakeholder support is greatly appreciated and essential to school effectiveness.
Please check out Tulsa Teachers Credit Union’s initiative to financially help schools. TTCU is helping support schools with their SOS—Support Our Schools campaign. The credit union has pledged to raise a significant amount of funds to assist schools within the areas served by their branches. Please know that we understand the sacrifice and greatly appreciate your support however received!
We cherish our students at Tahlequah Public Schools and have a talented and caring faculty and staff that are committed to their development. This district is dedicated to removing obstacles and providing a balanced education for our students. Tigers ROAR!
