Tahlequah Public Schools Foundation

Tahlequah Public Schools Foundation promises to have an outstanding 2017-2018 school year. Recent funding cuts inflict stress on the schools; however, TPSF provides the opportunity for citizens to do something about it. The organization’s theme this year is “Be a hero” by supporting education. When people donate, the money goes back into the classroom where teachers know how to use it.

The timing of the annual grant distribution has changed. Traditionally, the submission deadline for grants was at the end of the first semester, and the grants were awarded to teachers in February. At the teachers’ request, TPSF will award grants in November.

By moving the date forward, TPSF members were concerned about a decrease in available funding for this year’s grants.  TPSF launched an enthusiastic donor drive in an effort to secure more donations. Partnerships are available for $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 and have already been secured by Mary’s Liquor, Walmart, First Flight, Hank and Jeannie Van Veen and Northeastern Health System.   A Friends of the Foundation donation of $500 was secured by American Fidelity, Celeste Looney Insurance, Downtown Family Dentistry, Green Country Cinema, and Riverhawk Nutrition.  Generous donors are still contributing and ensuring comparable funding to previous years will be available to distribute. Donations made before November will go towards meeting grant needs.

The award winning Glow Golf scramble is quickly approaching.  It will be held Thursday, October 26 at 6 pm at the city golf course.  If golfing is your super power, this night is for you. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and fun for a good cause.  In addition to the scramble, there will be two skill shots and a hole-in-one competition. A Par Sponsorship is $500 (1 team), a Birdie Sponsorship is $1500 (2 teams and Friends of the Foundation recognition), an Eagle Sponsorship is $2500 (3 teams and Friends of the Foundation recognition). Registration forms are available on the Tahlequah Public Schools Foundation’s Facebook page and blog.  A few teams are still open.

Uncorked: A Celebration of Schools is a fun-filled evening in the spring where TPSF recognizes school employees with auction items, raffle prizes, local food and a VIP room where wine and food pairings are available for a $25 ticket. In May, the event once again packed the house and raised a record breaking $15,000. The next Uncorked is April 27, 2018. The money raised at Uncorked contributes to the approaching school year’s grants.
