Update on Projects
We are continually looking to make improvements to all aspects of our operations at Tahlequah Public Schools. Here is an update on some projects that have been completed, are on-going, or are in the planning stages at TPS.
On the campus of Tahlequah High School, we are in the planning stages to paint some of the buildings to match the TMAC, PAC and Admin buildings. We have recently repainted the parking lot stripes to help traffic flow.
At Cherokee Elementary you will notice our new Cafeteria is near completion but won’t be open until we complete the punch list. With the new cafeteria nearing completion, the exterior of Cherokee will receive new paint to match the new color scheme and we are opening discussions on remodeling the old cafeteria to house the library and classrooms. We are also looking to remodel the library to incorporate the main attendance office at the front of the school. The paneling down the hallways and in the classrooms will be a topic for consideration depending on the funding resources that will be available.
Our project at Greenwood Elementary of replacing the lights in the commons area to new energy efficient LED panel lights is complete. During the summer months, we replaced the main water line going into the library wing and painted the outside of the gym and library wing.
At Tahlequah Middle School we are going to do some much-needed repairs to the stucco façade and repaint.
We want to give a special thank you to Tahlequah’s Best for the donations of bike racks that will be installed at Greenwood, TMS and Heritage. They are also providing the materials to add concrete pads for these racks and sidewalk additions at Heritage and Greenwood. All of our concrete is being completed by our wonderful grounds crew.
We are so grateful for the support of the city and all of its departments. It appears to be understood that a community is only as good as is its school system and a school system is only as good as its community.
