Pre-Enrollment Information

It’s difficult to comprehend that pre-enrollment for school year 2018-2019 is upon us!  As you can imagine, this is a highly coordinated effort among many individuals.  Classes and classrooms are prepared based on pre-enrollment numbers and budgets are built based on these needs.  Our Enrollment Center has streamlined the amount of paperwork required to pre-enroll existing students, hoping to cut down on the number of students and families that do not take advantage of this opportunity.    

Tahlequah High School students and Tahlequah Middle School’s 8th grade students received pre-enrollment paperwork and course guides in February.  Middle School pre-enrollment packets were due back March 2nd and High School pre-enrollment are due back on March 9, 2018. 

PreKindergarten through 5th grade pre-enrollment will be sent home with students next week and due back to students’ homeroom teachers by March 13, 2018.  Sequoyah Elementary School, 425 S. College will host their annual PreK Roundup April 17 and April 24, 2018.  Students enrolling must be 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2018.  This program has limited space and students are enrolled on a “first come-first served” basis.  Enrollment information may be picked up at Sequoyah Elementary or at the Board of Education at 225 N Water.

Kindergarten Round-up, for students that are not currently enrolled in TPS PreK will be held April 26, 2018 at Sequoyah Elementary.  Families may pick up enrollment paperwork now and schedule an appointment. Students must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2018. 

All students must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian and bring a copy of the student(s) birth certificate and immunizations, Sooner Care and CDIB if applicable.  Parents/Guardian are required by law to provide proof of residence in the school district which may be satisfied with a printout from the Cherokee County Assessor’s office or filed Homestead Exemption form. A second form of residency is also required and may be a copy of one of the following: previous month’s utility bill or phone bill, CDIB picture ID, a current lease agreement or valid Oklahoma Driver’s license with parent/guardian(s) name and must be the same physical address shown on the County Assessor’s printout.  Check out our website at tahlequahpublicschools.org for a complete checklist of required documents and enrollment forms.   

We work diligently to encourage our current students and families to return their pre-enrollment information which alleviates the need to enroll through the Enrollment Center at 225 N. Water during the summer.  However, the Enrollment Center is open all summer and families may enroll at any time.
