Tahlequah High School Athletics Spring sports are over and summer practices have begun.

The 2017-2018 school year proved to be one of the most prolific in school history for the athletic department. It started with the Fastpitch softball team advancing to the state tournament where they were beaten by the eventual state champion Carl Albert. The Lady Tigers finished with a record of 30-6.

Next both girls and boys cross country teams advanced to the state tournament where the girls finished 9th and the boys finished 7th.

The football team hosted a second round playoff game for the first time since 2000 falling to the eventual state runner-up Bishop McGuiness in a heart breaker 19-9. The Tiger football team finished with an 8-4 record.

The Lady Tiger basketball team qualified for the state tournament for the second straight year led by Coach David Qualls whose team finished with a 20-8 record and competed in the toughest tournaments in the state all year long.

The Tigers wrestling team qualified 5 wrestlers this year with a very young team and expect to send several back next season.

Moving into Spring, the boys soccer team and the Slowpitch softball team both brought home the academic state championship in their respective sports. The boys golf team qualified for the state tournament where Jax Johnson finished 3rd overall.  The Lady Tiger soccer team qualified for the playoffs for the second straight year. The boys tennis team qualified five out of six for the state tennis tournament held in OKC.

The highlight of the Spring had to be the track team where they qualified 20 individuals for the state track meet. The girls 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 were 3rd in the state; Brooke Thomas was the 100m dash state champion; Josh Dick was the 3200m state champion and 800m runner up; and Antony Neuendorf was 3rd overall in the discus. The Lady Tigers team finished 4th out of 32 teams and the boys finished 8th while only qualifying 4 boys.

This year 11 athletes were named Oklahoma All State. They are Kennedy Davis-Softball, Hannah Boswell-Softball, Brooke Thomas-Volleyball and Track, Delaney Nix-Basketball, Chloe Callaway- Soccer, Josh Dick- Cross Country and Track, Cayden Aldridge-Football, Zane Marzullo-Soccer, and Jax Johnson- Golf

We will still be streaming our sports at www.tahlequahtigers.tv this Fall as well. This allows our parents, fans, and patrons to watch most of athletic events from their home computers free of charge. This is a student-led broadcast that the kids have taken great pride in.

With the forecast for budget cuts for all state schools looming, the athletic department will need your help not just for athletics but for the sake of education. The Tahlequah Athletic department will also be looking for more corporate sponsors in the upcoming months.

It has been a very busy but successful year for Tahlequah Athletics. As we go into Summer, please plan to attend an event this Fall. Go Tigers!!!!!!!!
