The first day of classes for Tahlequah Public schools will be Thursday, August 16th, and we are so excited to be back. It has been a busy summer getting our buses inspected and ready for the new school year.
I would like to personally thank our bus technicians for all their hard work and dedication. Kenneth Compelube, Francis Nez and Daymon Eatmon go above and beyond to ensure our students have safe transportation to and from school each day. You may not realize but our transportation employees are on call 24/7, as we usually have our buses, vans and other school vehicles out on school days, weekends and evenings for all types of activities.
TPS buses will run the same routes as the last school year and the pickup times will also be the same. Late start Monday will now be Late Start Friday beginning this school year. Please note that all TPS buses will run approximately 30 minutes later every Friday starting August 24th. All bus routes and times can be found on the Tahlequah Public Schools website as well as our inclement weather routes. Every student who request bus transportation must have a bus rider contract filled out and on file.
Parents requesting a change in the bus route the student typically rides, must call the Transportation Office prior to 2:00 P.M. Transportation will then notify each site of the approval to issue a bus pass. Students will not be allowed to ride a bus for which they do not have a bus pass.
For any further assistance, please feel free to call the Transportation Department and talk with Larry Wood, Meri Parks or Shawn Pinney at 918-458-4168.
