Tahlequah Athletics Fall sports has had a great start to the 2018-2019 school year.

On October 20th, the Girls’ Cross Country team finished 3rd and the Boys’ team were runners-up at Regionals which was held at O’Brien Park in Tulsa. On October 27, both teams competed for the State Championship held on the campus of Edmond Santa Fe.  The girls finished 5th in the state with freshman Lily Couch finishing 7th overall and earning All-State honors. The boys finished 6th overall in the state.

The Football team is having another great season and is currently 2nd in the district. With a record of 8-1, the team will take on Claremore in the season finale this Friday, November 2.  The Tigers will finish 2nd or 3rd in the district. With a Tiger win, Tahlequah will host the first round of the playoffs on Friday, November 9th. The last week will be exciting for the Tigers as they control their own destiny.  A playoff appearance this season will be the 5th in a row for the Tigers.

The Tahlequah Lady Tiger softball team finished the year with a 24-17 record and reached the State tournament for the 6th time in school history. They hosted regionals in early October beating Coweta in the finals. The Lady Tigers lost in the first round of the state tournament to the Durant Lions. Emily Sampson, Lanie Sanders, Betty Danner, and McKenna Wofford received All-District honors.  Honorable team selections included Hailey Sams, Meg Wynn, Alexa Cacy, and Morgan Wofford. This past weekend Emily Sampson was selected to the 5A-6A All-State team.

The Lady Tiger Volleyball Team finished Regional runners-up with a very young team. They expect to return to the state tournament in future years with five starters being underclassmen this season.

The Athletic Department is excited to announce a new broadcasting website www.tahlequahtigersathletics.com.  This allows our parents, fans, and patrons to watch most of athletic events from their home computers free of charge. This is a student-led broadcast that the kids have taken great pride in.

The Tahlequah Athletics will be looking for more corporate sponsors in the upcoming months.

It has been a very busy but successful year for Tahlequah Athletics. As we go into the winter, basketball and wrestling are preparing for their respective seasons.

The Athletic Department is busy planning for the 5th Annual Tahlequah Athletics Hall of Fame banquet, which will take place January 26 on the high school campus.
