Cherokee Elementary

The staff and students of Cherokee Elementary are excited and working hard in the final quarter of the 2018-2019 school year.

Cherokee Elementary’s Teacher of the Year is Ms. Nita Wright.  She is a 3rd grade teacher and is completing her 6th year at Cherokee. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated teacher leading our students in the classroom.  She works very hard to make sure all students are learning the required objectives daily, but more importantly she is building strong relationships with her students that last a lifetime.  She also demonstrates the desired skills for respect, manners, self-discipline and many other qualities for her students and other staff members. Ms. Wright is also the director of our After-School Program, so she reaches more students than just the children in her classroom; she fosters the growth of many students at Cherokee Elementary.

Cherokee Elementary teachers, students and families helped support the Oklahoma Special Olympics by participating in the Polar Plunge at Arrowhead Resort in early March. We were the highest fundraising school with over $2,100.00. Our student athletes will be participating in the State Games in Stillwater in mid-May.

We are proud to announce that the Cherokee Robotics team qualified for Worlds. The Kee Bots will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky in late April. This team was one of only 3 Elementary teams that were chosen to attend. These students work countless hours after school, during lunch, recess, and any free time that they have.

A special thank you to the Cherokee PTO for the countless hours that have been spent planning events, raising funds and volunteering. Cherokee has had a very successful fundraising year and the students and teachers have benefited greatly.  PTO paid for field trips and transportation costs, classroom supplies and technology, and the list goes on and on.  The students and staff of Cherokee Elementary appreciate all of the hard work and dedication that the PTO has blessed them with this year.

As you can see, it has been a very busy the second semester of school and everyone is looking forward to a completing another successful year.  We are proud of our students and staff at Cherokee Elementary and will take every opportunity to show off their talents.  Like us on Facebook and see more incredible things about Cherokee Elementary.
