Tahlequah Public Schools understands the vital role the strong partnerships between families, schools, and the community play in the success and well-being of students. Through collaboration and positive relationships, the district is committed to creating a supportive environment that nurtures student learning and development. At the heart of this mission is the Tahlequah Public Schools Outreach Center, which serves as a cornerstone for community support. The center offers a wide array of services designed to assist families in need, ensuring that students have the necessary resources to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

One of the Outreach Center's proudest initiatives is the Backpack Program, which provides essential food items to families facing food insecurity. Each week, families receive food supplies to help bridge the gap, ensuring that students are nourished and ready to learn. The support does not stop when the school year ends; during the summer months, the Outreach Center team continues to assist with providing breakfast and lunches directly to families, addressing the increased challenges many face when school is not in session.

Beyond food assistance, the Outreach Center also connects families with critical resources, including clothing, school supplies, and referrals to local community agencies. By working hand in hand with families and community partners, Tahlequah Public Schools strives to eliminate barriers, empowering students to succeed both academically and personally.

In an effort to combat hunger during the summer break, Tahlequah Public Schools is offering free meals to children and teens aged eighteen and under from June 3rd to June 27th. Meals will be available at Cherokee Elementary, with breakfast served from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM and lunch from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. This initiative aims to provide nutritious meals in a welcoming environment, ensuring no child goes hungry while school is out.

To further extend its reach, the district is continuing pick-up services at Gardenwalk Apartments and Fox Mobile Homes on Wednesdays from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. We are excited to announce that this will be every Wednesday for both June and July. Families utilizing this service will receive five breakfasts and five lunches each week, helping to bridge nutritional gaps for students.

TPS is also dedicated to promoting literacy and learning throughout the summer. With the support of a five-year literacy grant, the district is increasing access to books and literacy resources. This summer, the Outreach Center will participate in the Back-to-School Kick-Off event, providing families with materials and ideas to encourage reading and learning at home.

The Tahlequah Public Schools Outreach Center serves as a hub for support and empowerment. Whether you are seeking resources, guidance, or simply a friendly face, the Outreach Center is here to help.
