We are continually looking to make improvements to all aspects of our operations at Tahlequah Public Schools. Here is an update on some projects that are on-going or are in the planning stages at TPS.

Tahlequah Public Schools has recently approved to enter into an energy performance contract to leverage money being paid to the utility company and make improvements. Our current plan is a lighting project that will change all lights in the district to LED with dimming capabilities in the classrooms to improve the learning experience. Our maintenance team has done a wonderful job implementing LED lighting and have completed about 25 to 30 percent of the district. This will create a baseline for all students to have the best learning environment possible. Our Maintenance team has completed 2077 work orders since July 1, 2023, and do an excellent job keeping up with our buildings. TPS is fortunate to have skilled people with outstanding character here to take care of our buildings so our Students and Staff can feel comfortable and safe.

At the Baseball and Softball Field you will see our new Indoor Hitting Facility taking shape and will be complete February 2024. Our Bond projects at Greenwood Elementary and Cherokee Elementary of adding new classrooms, updating the parking lot, and adding an administrative wing are well underway. Our new library at Cherokee is scheduled to be complete in February 2024. Both additions at Cherokee and Greenwood are on schedule to be complete by the end of Summer 2024. We are in the planning stages of the district wide renovations starting with High School restrooms.

We are so grateful for the support of the city and all of its departments. It is understood that a community is only as good as its school system and a school system is only as good as its community.
