We are continually looking to make improvements to all aspects of our operations at Tahlequah Public Schools. Here is an update on some projects that are on-going or are in the planning stages at TPS.

Tahlequah Public Schools has recently approved to enter into an energy performance contract to leverage money being paid to the utility company and make improvements. Our current lighting project that changed all lights in the district to LED with dimming capabilities in the classrooms is complete. We have had positive feedback from students and staff on our new lights and it will create a baseline for all students to have the best learning environment possible. Our Maintenance team has completed 3,888 work orders since July 1, 2023, and do an excellent job keeping up with our buildings. TPS is fortunate to have skilled people with outstanding character here to take care of our buildings so our students and staff can feel comfortable and safe.

At the baseball and softball fields, you will see our new Indoor Athletic Facility is complete. Our new library at Cherokee is complete. Bond projects at Greenwood Elementary and Cherokee Elementary of adding new classrooms and adding an Administration wing are well underway. Both additions at Cherokee and Greenwood are on schedule to be complete by the end of Summer 2024. We are also in the planning stages of a few additional district wide renovations starting with a couple of restrooms at Tahlequah High School.

We are so grateful for the support of the city and all of its departments. It appears to be understood that a community is only as good as its school system and a school system is only as good as its community.
