Tahlequah Public Schools (TPS) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of our facilities and services. We are excited to share updates on several ongoing and upcoming projects that will improve our operations and create a better learning environment for our students.
TPS has recently approved the second phase of our energy performance contract, which aims to reduce utility costs and improve energy efficiency. The current project involves replacing HVAC units at the Tahlequah Multi-Purpose Activity Center (TMAC) and four additional units at the Middle School. Additionally, building envelope repairs are being made across the district to enhance insulation and prevent air leaks, creating more comfortable indoor environments.
Water-saving measures, such as the installation of efficient plumbing fixtures, are also being implemented at various sites. The first phase of our lighting project has already produced noticeable savings in utility bills, and we are committed to finding more ways to use our resources efficiently to ensure our buildings remain safe, functional, and energy-efficient.
We are also pleased to announce the completion of the stair replacement project at the TMAC. This essential upgrade has improved safety and accessibility at the facility, and we appreciate the patience of the community during the work. Since July 1, 2023, our maintenance team has completed 3,223 work orders, representing 89% of all work orders for the current school year. This dedication ensures that our students and staff can enjoy a safe and well-maintained learning environment.
TPS’s bond projects are nearing completion, with new additions at Greenwood and Cherokee schools already making a positive impact. These expansions provide much-needed space for classrooms and specialized learning areas, enhancing the educational experience for students.
A standout feature of these projects is the new indoor hitting facility, which offers a space for students to develop their athletic skills in baseball and softball. This facility is a valuable resource for student-athletes, supporting the district’s goal of fostering excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.
These improvements are only possible because of the strong support from our community. The bond projects and energy efficiency upgrades reflect a shared investment in the future of our students. As we continue to enhance our facilities, TPS remains focused on providing the best possible learning environment.
