The Middle School has had such a memorable and amazing school year. We are working hard daily to make the MIDDLE MATTER for our TMS Tigers and staff.  The activities with choir, band, art show, academic team competitions, sports, etc. are in full swing, having parents come in for events and parent nights, and much more! The year has truly flown by!

Spring is always such a busy time for our TMS Tigers. Spring sports-track, baseball, soccer, tennis, and golf are all competing and keeping our students motivated academically, as well. TMS Band just had an amazing concert, and our students are so talented!  We will have a choir concert on May 15.  Our drama department is putting on our annual talent show on May 13.  State testing for our students begins April 21-24 for all grade levels.  Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9, and we plan on celebrating our staff in a big way! We will have gifts, food, and activities all week. A special thanks goes out to all our parents for their time and support of all these events!

TMS is proud to recognize Mrs. Mendy McKee as Teacher of the Year for 2025-2026 and Tahlequah Public Schools, District Teacher of the Year. Mrs. McKee teaches 7th grade math and is our TMS Cheer coach. We are so proud of her students’ success in math. It is rewarding to watch her students master new skills and gain confidence in their mathematics skills. Mrs. Mckee builds genuine, lasting relationships with her students. She creates a safe learning environment where mistakes are expected, respected, inspected, and corrected! She is a department leader, mentor teacher, and a servant leader at heart. Congratulations to this outstanding teacher!

Ms. Tinsley has been putting in work with our TMS robotics teams.  TMS Robotics has 21 members that compete at the local, state, national and world levels. We have 6 teams that competed this year- Cheez-Its, Cu?iosity Next Gen, #2 Pencils, Waffle Turtlez, M&Ms, and Cogasaurous.  On tournament days, teams compete in various competitions including Skills, Tournament, Design, and Engineering. Throughout the season, TMS Robotics was awarded 16 awards in various categories. Cheeze-Its, Cu?iosity Next Gen, and Waffle Turtlez competed at the White Mountain Apache Southwest Native American Showcase Event in Arizona. Cheeze-Its, Cu?iosity Next Gen, Waffle Turtlez, and Cogasaurous, qualified for the Oklahoma State Championship, which was held in early March. Cheez-Its and Cu?iosty Next Gen will advance to compete at the VEX IQ World Tournament in Dallas, TX on May 11-15 with teams from all over the world. M&Ms and #2 Pencils will compete at the TSA State Conference on April 9-11, 2025 in Norman, OK.  We are currently accepting donations to help with travel expenses. All donations can be made out to Tahlequah Boys & Girls Club and sent to Tahlequah Middle School.

Tahlequah Middle School is hosting a Summer Enrichment Program for 5th-8th grade students. The open house will be held on Monday June 2nd from 5:00-7:00 at TMS.  Parents and students are encouraged to attend to learn more about the program and meet the staff. The Summer Program will run from Tuesday, June 3rd, through Thursday, June 26th, operating four days a week from Monday to Thursday. Invitations for the program are being sent home this week. We will be focusing on gaining skills through hands on applications. We will also be applying skills through STEM, Arts, and other activities. Other enrichments that will be offered this summer include sports and recreation, arts and crafts, cooking club, fishing, and field trips each Thursday.

The end of the year is fast approaching.  We will have awards assemblies the last week of school for each grade level. We will celebrate our 8th graders on May 16, with an extended lunch and afternoon activities before they head off to High School. We will host our 5th graders on May 6th for tours and then host parents with their students May 6 @ 5:30.

We wish everyone a great end to this 2024-2025 school year!
