It has been an exciting and memorable fall for Tahlequah Athletics, as our student athletes have once again demonstrated excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
Softball set the tone early for an outstanding season. The Lady Tigers captured the Regional Championship and advanced to the State Semifinals, solidifying their place among Oklahoma’s elite programs. They finished the year with a 32-7 record. Beyond their success on the diamond, the team also proved their commitment to excellence in the classroom by earning the State Academic Championship, a recognition that highlights their hard work, discipline, and balance between athletics and academics.
In Cross Country, both the boys’ and girls’ teams showcased incredible growth and endurance throughout the fall. Competing in one of the toughest conferences in the state, the Tigers finished second overall at the Metro Lakes Conference meet for both divisions. Both teams competed in the 5A regional competition on October 25th with both teams qualifying for the state cross country meet that will be held November 1 in Edmond. The athletes’ commitment to training, teamwork, and perseverance was evident at every meet, as they continued to lower times and push each other to new personal bests.
Volleyball also turned in a strong campaign, combining talent and determination to make a deep postseason run. After a season full of exciting matches and signature wins, the Lady Tigers advanced to the Regional Finals, capping off one of the program’s most competitive years in recent memory. The team’s effort, leadership, and chemistry were key to their success, and they have helped build a foundation for continued progress moving forward.
On the gridiron, Tiger Football continues to fight through the season after losing several one possession games. They will finish the regular season with two games remaining. They travel to Tulsa Will Rogers this Friday and close the season next Thursday at Tulsa Hale. The team’s resilience and steady improvement have defined their season, as they have battled through a challenging schedule while showing growth each week.
As the fall season winds down, it is clear that Tahlequah Athletics has much to celebrate. From championships and postseason runs to academic honors and personal growth, the Tigers continue to set a high standard for excellence. The future is bright, and the determination shown this fall will carry forward into the winter and spring seasons ahead.
The Athletic Department is also preparing for the 11th Annual Tahlequah Athletics Hall of Fame banquet, scheduled for February 7th. Last year’s event drew more than 500 guests. Nominations are due by December 1st. For more information or to nominate a past student-athlete, please contact Matt Cloud at the Tahlequah Athletic Office on 918-458-4154.
We encourage everyone to attend an upcoming event and continue supporting Tahlequah Athletics. Go Tigers!
