At Tahlequah Public Schools, our technology infrastructure continues to advance as we build a faster, safer, and more resilient foundation for teaching and learning. Over the past several months, we have completed several major projects that strengthen district connectivity, improve system reliability, and prepare us for the next phase of growth.

We have successfully relocated all district servers, core switching, NVRs, and wireless controllers to the new centralized technology server room, providing a secure and efficient environment for our core systems. This room is climate controlled and has backup power to ensure greater uptime and availability. This move has streamlined operations, improved reliability, and increased overall network performance across all campuses.

In partnership with Consolidated Communications, the district now operates on a 10-gigabit Internet connection, and a 10-gigabit leased WAN, providing the speed and capacity needed to support our expanding digital learning initiatives. Alongside this, we have upgraded our firewall and implemented redundant wireless controllers to deliver high-availability Wi-Fi district-wide—ensuring that students and staff can stay connected without interruption.

Ongoing infrastructure improvements include cabling the new Education Service Center (old Armory) building to support district administration offices, replacing camera cabling at all sites for improved reliability, and upgrading more than 70 wireless access points to increase coverage and performance in classrooms and common areas.

Looking ahead, we are preparing to begin a six-year life-cycle replacement plan for all district devices. For employees, this plan ensures that all staff computers will be refreshed within the six-year period. For students, the district will continue replacing 6th- and 9th-grade devices each year, allowing those devices to follow students through graduation. When retired from secondary use, they will be reassigned to elementary schools until reaching end of life—maximizing value and sustainability across the district.

These projects represent our continued commitment to providing a reliable, modern, and secure technology environment that supports the mission of Tahlequah Public Schools. Our progress is made possible through the dedication of our technology team and the ongoing support of our district leadership and community.

As technology continues to evolve, our focus remains clear: to build systems that empower learning, strengthen communication, and keep Tahlequah Public Schools connected to the future—one switch, cable, and connection at a time.
