Update on District Maintenance

It has been a busy and exciting four months serving as the Director of Operations for Tahlequah Public Schools. I am fortunate to work with an excellent crew who have made my transition into this role incredibly smooth. I also want to recognize the outstanding leadership team within our district; together, we remain committed to improving the quality of our facilities and services. I am excited to share updates on several ongoing and upcoming projects designed to enhance our operations and create a better learning environment for our students.

Our maintenance and grounds crews work tirelessly to manage our facilities. Recently, our grounds team has been clearing leaves and brush and removing dead trees in preparation for the upcoming mowing season. I was also proud to see the entire team pitch in for snow removal during the recent winter storm.

We recently completed the move of our Board of Education office to its new home at the Tahlequah Education Center (the Armory). Maintenance/Grounds workers have been instrumental in this transition—painting, decorating, landscaping, moving furniture, installing door locks and all basic needs of the facility. Across the district, our team has successfully addressed over 1,600 work orders since the school year began in August.

TPS remains committed to energy conservation to reduce utility costs and improve efficiency. We recently integrated the Educational Service Center (ESC) into our monitoring system, allowing us to track temperatures and resolve HVAC issues remotely. Because heating, cooling, and plumbing represent our highest volume of work requests, this integration is a significant step forward.

We are currently beginning phases one and two of our newest additions: the new stadium and fieldhouse, as well as the band room/safe room at the Middle School. Additionally, the Middle School cafeteria will be expanded to provide a more spacious environment for our students. We are currently on track to break ground on these projects in April.

We are truly blessed to live in such a strong, giving, and positive community. These improvements are only possible because of your continued support. The current bond projects and facility upgrades reflect our shared investment in the future of our students. As we grow, Tahlequah Public Schools remains focused on providing the best possible environment for learning and success.
