We all know how unpredictable Oklahoma weather can be! To help everyone prepare, here are the district’s procedures for both winter weather and tornado warnings:

School District Weather Instructions
1. Monitoring Conditions
The district monitors forecasts from the National Weather Service, local emergency management, and road crews to ensure the safety of students and staff.
2. Winter Weather
• Snow Routes: If announced, bus routes will be modified for safety. Drivers will only travel on roads deemed passable.
• School Closure: If conditions are unsafe, school may be canceled for the entire day.
• Early Dismissal: If weather worsens during the school day, students may be released early. Parents will be notified through the district’s alert system.
3. Tornado Warnings During School Hours
• If a tornado warning is issued, students and staff will shelter in designated safe areas inside the school until the warning expires.
• If students are on a bus at a school site, they will unload and shelter inside the building until the all clear is given.
• Parents are asked not to come to the school during an active warning, as this could put both you and your child at greater risk.
• If parents are already at the school or in the carline when a warning is issued, you are welcome to come inside and shelter in a designated visitor area. Staff will not bring students out to the carline during an active warning.
4. Notification of Families and Staff
• Updates will be shared through the district’s phone, email, and text alert system.
• Information will also be posted on the district website, official social media, and local radio/TV stations.
5. After-School Activities
• When school is canceled or dismissed early due to winter weather or severe storms, all after-school activities and events will be canceled unless otherwise announced.
6. Safety First
• Families are encouraged to use their best judgment when traveling in inclement weather. If road conditions near your home are unsafe, please contact your child’s school. Your safety is ALWAYS most important!

Tiger fans: Next Tuesday, September 9, our community will vote on an investment plan that will provide students with improvements in the following areas: facilities, safety, technology, transportation, activities and more – without an increase to the tax rate. Any registered voter that lives in the Tahlequah School DISTRICT can vote. Precincts all over the county will be open! Early Voting begins TOMORROW at the County Election Board! School bond elections require 60% to pass. Thank you for your continual support to the students at TPS!

On September 9th, Tahlequah Public School residents will vote on a NO TAX RATE INCREASE bond package. One of our proposed projects with the new bond is a "Home Field" for the Tigers! The current middle school football field will be transformed into a competitive football/soccer/pom/cheer/band field for high school, middle school and community teams. The plan includes new seating, a press box, a concession and restroom facility, new scoreboard, new lighting, fencing and sidewalk upgrades. A new fieldhouse will also be constructed that includes a weight room, locker rooms, classroom, meeting spaces, additional parking and sidewalk upgrades. GO TIGERS!

Wont's be able to vote in person on September 9th? Absentee voting is quick and easy! The deadline to request an absentee ballot is August 25th. Visit the Oklahoma Election Board online portal: https://okvoterportal.okelections.gov/.

Attention: There is a traffic flow change at the corner of Moccasin and Choctaw! Signs are on the way and should be installed next week—thank you for your patience as the city works to make this change for smoother and safer traffic flow.

Your generosity and support made our Annual Welcome Back Program a success.
We truly appreciate your commitment to our community and to making this event one to remember!

Tahlequah Public Schools qualifies for the Community Eligibility Provision – allowing us to serve free meals to all students for the 25-26 school year.
